WWE is set to hold WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next year – the first time ever that the company’s biggest wrestling event will be taking place outside of North America.
Interestingly though, WWE has yet to make any announcement on the date of the show even though historically they reveal the date and location at the same time closer to a year before the event.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that WWE is in “no rush” to make the date public knowledge and there are no plans for the company to announce anything in the month of October as it hasn’t been priority given that the expectation is that the tickets will be distributed in a more unique manner.
The report added that WWE also has a very strategic reason for delaying this announcement: by keeping the date private for as long as possible, they are leaving events held by the competition in North America “in limbo” as logistically, it would make it more difficult for other promotions to plan major events not knowing what weekend WWE will be holding WrestleMania. It would also disrupt planning for other PPVs throughout the year for the competition.
Fightful also reported that it is believed that WWE will delay the announcement on the date until the period around Crown Jewel scheduled for Riyadh on November 7.
