Yesterday, it was announced that New Orleans will no longer be hosting WWE’s WrestleMania 42 in 2026 and a later report emerged that indicated that WWE was going to go back to Las Vegas for a second straight year instead. Now a new report is suggesting that WWE is looking to host WrestleMania in Vegas on a regular basis.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE’s plan is to run Las Vegas “on a regular basis” but not necessarily every year. However, it would be frequent and the reason for this is that this year’s WrestleMania 41 was highly successful from a financial standpoint, breaking all sorts of records for WWE and their parent company, TKO.
Another reason, WWE is favoring Las Vegas is due to key TKO executives living there as well as the fact that current WWE President Nick Khan grew up in the city as well. Vegas for its part is looking to become a major sports/entertainment destination on an annual basis as they are eyeing other major events such as the Super Bowl, The Final Four, College Football National Championship Finals and in the years that they don’t get one of those, they would like to have WrestleMania there.
WrestleMania 42 is currently scheduled for August 18 and 19 but there are a few wrinkles to still iron out as there is an unannounced concert that is booked at Allegiant Stadium that gives WWE a very tight window to set up. Stadium officials have attempted to convince the concert to move dates but the promoters are so far unwilling to move, stating that they have a contract in place. The other logistical issue is that the Las Vegas Convention Center, which this year hosted fan gatherings, is technically open next year during WrestleMania week but won’t have nearly the same amount of available space as another event has booked part of the space and are also not wanting to budge on their date(s). WWE does have the option to either compromise and use less space or move their events to a different convention center, with Mandalay Bay being the most logical.
