WWE Rumors: Conflicting Reports Emerge About Severity Of Seth Rollins’ Knee Injury

Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury at WWE Saturday’s Night Main Event in a match against LA Knight which was immediately signalled to be a serious injury by both the commentating team and WWE CCO Paul Levesque. However, recent reports have painted a more conflicting picture.

Post Wrestling’s John Pollock reported that two days before Saturday Night’s Main Event, sources had revealed to him that Rollins was set to be involved in an injury angle that would land him on crutches and he suggested that the reason for that was for WWE creative to keep plans for Rollins’ forthcoming Money in the Bank cash-in not only under wraps but to make it appear as if it won’t be happening for a long time due to the injury.

“Here is what I have been told, and I will just share what I was told. I was told two days before this to look out for an injury angle with Seth Rollins that would, it was even described to me, it would be an injury angle that gets him on crutches going into SummerSlam, something to that effect.

So I was told this two days before the match happened. So the only possibilities here, if I had been told this the day after this had played, and someone is telling me this isn’t real, I would certainly need more information than that. The fact is, I was told this in advance. So this person is not psychic. They are not Nostradamus. There are only two options here. Is that this was a work, or they were planning a work, and he really did get hurt. And I don’t think that’s the case either.

So I’m very confident that this is a storyline and this is going to play itself out. This part is just me speculating here, is that for Seth Rollins, his is probably the most like celebrated cash-in that WWE promotes with the big heist of the century, like he can’t just do a normal cash-in, they have to do something that is going to shock people. And certainly, this is a way. And believe me, I have heard they are going to go to great lengths on this one. I think they’re gonna try very hard to make everyone believe he’s out.

I can’t speak for what they’re telling other people, or how many people know. I’m just conveying what I was told by a very, very good source. It’s not even a case of like trust or not trust. This happened as it was described to me 48 hours before the angle was executed. This is not a case of, well, maybe this will happen, maybe this won’t. We see it happened, it happened as it was described to me.”

Dave Meltzer of f4wonline.com reported a similar story that he was told by people on Thursday that an injury angle was going to go down. He and his co-host Bryan Alvarez both noted that Rollins is in fact dealing with some sort of injury that happened before SNME but that it is not as major as being described and the spot in the Knight match was a cover for a separate undisclosed ailment. Their story added speculation that Rollins will return in a big surprise well ahead of schedule and cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Meanwhile other online journalists have a different opinion. Mike Johnson of pwinsider.com noted that his sources claim Rollins’ injury is completely legitimate and not a work or storyline in any sense and he went on to slam the reports above feeling that such stories were “disrespectful” to Rollins. Sean Ross Sapp of fightful.com also reported that the word he got was that the injury was legit and not for any storylines.
