WWE had originally penciled in Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu as tonight’s Friday Night Smackdown main event with the winner become the new #1 contender for the WWE Undisputed Title.

However, as reported earlier this week, Fatu has been dealing with an unspecified injury that threatens to knock him out of action into 2026. He hasn’t wrestled in several weeks.

PWInsiderelite.com is reporting that indeed Fatu will no longer be competing tonight on Smackdown, however, he is present at the show so could still make an appearance.

Instead, the main event for the show will now be Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre in a Wrestlepalooza rematch. The decision to go ahead with this main event was made late this afternoon, as the show underwent rewrites.
