— WWE has officially announced their mini tournament for tonight’s Friday Night Smackdown, with the winner being crowned the new #1 contender for the US Title held by Shinsuke Nakamura. Originally, a one-on-one match with Nakamura defending against LA Knight was to take place but GM Nick Aldis released a video today saying the match is off with a storyline reason that the two couldn’t agree who the top contender is. As a result, the tournament will take place.
— Three singles matches will take place with the winners of those matches squaring off later on at night in a triple threat. Whomever wins that will be the top contender for the US title. In a slight change from the spoiler revealed earlier, it will be Solo Sikoa taking on Andrade (instead of Jacob Fatu has originally reported).
- LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar
- Carmelo Hayes vs. Braun Strowman
- Andrade vs. Solo Sikoa
