WWE SummerSlam

WWE SummerSlam News: Attendance Figures, Spoilers & Surprises, Opening Match, more

— Tonight’s WWE SummerSlam is going to be sold out with over 35,000 tickets sold as of earlier this week and the company expecting close to 38,000 when all is said and done. That would mean WWE will probably announce a public attendance figure of about 45,000 if they inflate numbers as they usually do.

— The Wrestling Observer Newsletter speculates that with this being Triple H’s first PPV in charge of creative, there will be some “curves thrown and surprises” as he looks to make an immediate impact. Notably, there is a growing tease that Seth Rollins could be involved in an unannounced match after his previously scheduled bout against Riddle was postponed after a storyline injury to Riddle. When Rollins complained on social media about working hard and not having a match, Triple H on his own account, replied with “I hear you”, which may suggest he will find Rollins an opponent.

— Pwinsider.com reports that the opening match for tonight’s WWE SummerSlam show will be Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair.

— While he was in town for pre-PPV activities, including an appearance at the WWE tryouts that were held this week, Big E is not in town for SummerSlam as he continues to recover from neck surgery.

— The Maximum Male Models were planned to be featured on SummerSlam in some capacity as of earlier this morning, according to fightfulselect.com. They also report that Seth Rollins was pulled from his media obligations yesterday.
