Sunday Night’s Main Event is Now LIVE!

We’re live with the inaugural Sunday Night’s Main Event! Michael Cole welcomes us to State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia! It’s showtime! We get a video package hyping tonight’s show and setting the scene for how we arrived at tonight’s matches. We then get footage of various Superstars from tonight’s matches walking backstage. Last but not least is Bron Breakker, arriving with Logan Paul and the rest of the Vision.

Quavo Opens Sunday Night’s Main Event

Quavo makes his way out to the stage rolling a shopping cart filled with counterfeit $100 bills. He opens our show! Don’t expect live play-by-play of this segment, sorry folks! Oh wait…we get that one song (Backwards, from his upcoming album) and that’s it. My bad.

Five-Minute Challenge: United States Champion Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty

We’re shown Lil Yachty, Trick Williams and their entourage backstage before they make their way out to the ring. We’re given the official rules: if Lil Yachty can survive five minutes against Baron Corbin, Trick Williams will earn a United States Championship match. There are no count-outs and no disqualifications. Out next, to a chorus of boos, is our United States Champion, Baron Corbin. We get our bell at 8:10pm! Just prior to the bell, Corbin gets on the mic and tells Yachty this is his last chance to bow out. He gets it—Yachty’s in his hometown, in front of his friends and family. Corbin tells him to pack it up and take a hike before he gets blood all over his new clothes. Yachty responds with a sucker punch and immediately attempts a cover at the bell! He flees the ring and Corbin rolls outside, chasing after him. Yachty tries to slide back into the ring, but Corbin grabs him by the ankle and yanks him back out, dropping him hard on the floor. Corbin begins to work over Yachty, sending him into the barricade as the Yachtourage looks on. The Yachtourage attempt to pull Yachty to the safety of the audience, but Corbin pursues and begins attacking them as well. Corbin is bleeding from the left ear, apparently opened up during Yachty’s cheap shot before the bell. Yachty begins to rally with three minutes remaining, using a crutch to beat the United States Champion around ringside and back into the ring.

Yachty takes another swing with the crutch, but Corbin ducks under and drops him with a clothesline. The Yachtourage tries to get back into the mix, but Corbin easily dismantles them in the ring, even hitting an End of Days on one of them! Corbin’s left ear is still bleeding as Yachty heads up the turnbuckles and catches the champion off guard with a Hurricanrana! Yachty heads up top and dives off, connecting with a crossbody for a two-count cover. We’re down to 100 seconds left! Yachty charges Corbin—and runs right into an End of Days! Corbin grins, but instead of covering, he begins to punish Yachty, pummeling him with right hands. Corbin hits another End of Days on Yachty, then slides outside with a minute left. He looks under the ring and, after checking another side, finally finds what he wants: a table. Corbin brings it into the ring, sets it up and positions Yachty in the corner. Corbin places Yachty on the top rope—20 seconds left, bro! Corbin joins him up top and looks for a Superplex with ten seconds remaining, but Yachty connects with a low blow! Corbin crashes back to the canvas and the clock expires!
Your Survivor, Lil Yachty! (5 minutes)

After the Match: Corbin Attacks Yachty + Bonus Match!

Corbin attacks Yachty after the bell. The announcement is made official: Yachty survived the five-minute challenge, so Trick Williams gets his United States Championship opportunity—right now!

United States Championship Match: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Trick Williams w/ Lil Yachty & the Yachtourage

Williams comes out to a massive pop but doesn’t dally. He streaks to the ring and we get our bell at 8:17pm! Corbin looks to attack Lil Yachty, furious that he even has to have this match, but Williams intervenes and stays on the offensive, keeping the Atlanta crowd hot. Williams battles the champion into the corner and connects with a powerful chop that drops Corbin. Trick stomps Corbin down in the corner to the rhythm of the crowd’s “Whoop That Trick!” chant before making an early cover, but no joy. Williams stays aggressive, keeping the champion off balance, but Corbin finally creates some separation by using the top rope to stun the challenger before sending him flying to the outside and into the commentary desk. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are on the call tonight. Corbin stalks Williams around ringside but wastes valuable time jawing with the crowd as a loud “Corbin sucks!” chant breaks out. Corbin sends Williams crashing into the steel steps, then rolls into and back out of the ring to break the referee’s count. The champion settles into a stretch of punishment at ringside, repeatedly sending the challenger into the steps and barricade as he takes firm control. Back in the ring, Corbin slows the pace, using working holds, heavy clotheslines and stiff strikes to keep Williams grounded for a stretch. The champion remains in control, but once again wastes valuable time taunting the challenger instead of pressing his advantage.
Williams attempts to break out of Corbin’s control multiple times, but the champion dominates for the bulk of the match, using a big Chokeslam and another lariat to keep the challenger in check. Finally, Williams slips in a Book End to attempt a rally—only to rebound off the ropes looking for the Trick Shot and run right into a Deep Six! Corbin covers, but no joy. Both Superstars clash and go at it. Williams hits a one-armed Bulldog, but before he can follow it up, Corbin shoves him into the ring post. Corbin rolls to the outside to catch a breather, then grabs the United States Championship off its pedestal. He heads back toward the ring with the title, but Lil Yachty grabs the belt, buying Williams enough time to recover. Williams connects with a side kick and covers for a close two-count. Corbin rises, still holding onto the title. The referee is distracted by a downed Yachty in the ring, allowing Corbin to blast Williams in the head with the championship! The ref didn’t see it! Corbin covers, but Williams kicks out just in time! Corbin is livid and wastes time arguing with the referee. Corbin looks for the End of Days, but Williams floats over, rebounds off the ropes and hits the Trick Shot! Williams covers to pick up the win at 8:28pm!
Your Winner AND NEW United States Champion, Trick Williams! (11 minutes)

Singles Match: Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker

After we return from break, we find WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman in the ring. He announces that this match will determine the future of WWE. Out first is Atlanta native and one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Bron Breakker, sans The Vision. Commentary reminds us that Breakker has questioned Heyman’s loyalty ever since Femi defeated Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell. Breakker gets in the ring and shakes Heyman’s hand. Heyman then makes the announcement for “The Ruler,” and out comes Oba Femi! We get our bell at 8:44pm and both big men lock up, grappling in a test of strength. Oba shoves Breakker off and into the corner! Breakker responds with a slap to Femi’s chest and they lock up again; this time, Breakker shoves Femi off. Both men then take turns running off the ropes and trying to shoulder tackle each other. Finally, Breakker runs off the ropes, ducks under Femi and rebounds off the opposite side—only to be caught by a huge clothesline from Femi! Breakker heads outside the ring to take a breather, but The Ruler won’t allow it, giving pursuit and battling Bron at ringside. Femi lifts Breakker up and lawn-darts him into the apron. The referee continues counting a warning as they battle outside. Breakker tries to slip back into the ring, but Femi drags him out by the feet, forcing the referee to reset the count. Breakker posts up on the apron and looks for a running attack, but Femi catches him with a brutally loud, slapping chop to the chest that drops Breakker mid-charge. The action heads back into the ring and Femi connects with a Cactus Jack Clothesline! Both men tumble to the outside, but Femi lands on his feet. The Ruler clears off the commentary table, then casually drinks Wade Barrett’s bottle of water. That takes too much time, allowing Breakker to recover and attack.
Breakker lays into Femi with fists, leaving the big man reeling against the commentary table. Breakker hops up on the apron and dives off, clotheslining Femi over the table! Breakker takes Femi back inside and connects with a speedy, rebounding clothesline to drop The Ruler. Breakker then settles into a lengthy stretch of control, slowing the pace and keeping Femi grounded. Breakker pivots tactics and attempts to slap a sleeper hold on Femi, hoping to put The Ruler to sleep. Femi hangs on, battling back to a vertical base and creating some separation with elbow thrusts. Breakker releases Femi, then drives him to the canvas with a powerful slam. Breakker once again slows the pace drastically, talking trash as he shoves Femi’s head and repeatedly yells, “Future of what?” Breakker keeps things methodical and spends more time taunting the crowd and Femi than actually attacking The Ruler. Finally, around 8:52pm, the pace picks up. Both Superstars begin brawling in the middle of the ring. A big Pendulum Backbreaker from Femi; a leaping knee from Breakker! Breakker looks for a German Suplex, but Femi lands on his feet and drops Breakker with a clothesline! Femi connects with another big clothesline, followed by a version of Snake Eyes and a Big Boot as Breakker rebounds. Femi begins a series of running uppercuts on a corner-bound Breakker, firing off multiple shots before ending the barrage with a twisting corkscrew uppercut that drops Breakker. Femi follows with a Chokeslam and covers, but Breakker slowly gets the shoulder up just in time! Femi stalks Breakker as he rises and looks for a suplex, but Breakker rakes the eyes! The referee is out of position and doesn’t see it, and Femi tumbles to the outside. Breakker heads out and charges around ringside, but Femi has it scouted and catches him with an uppercut! Austin Theory attempts to interfere, but Femi takes him out. Breakker uses the distraction to Spear Femi on the outside! They head back inside and Breakker connects with a second Spear! Breakker covers, but Femi kicks out! The crowd is on fire for The Ruler.

Logan Paul streaks down the ramp as his music plays, brass knuckles in hand. He gets on the apron and the referee confronts him, then ejects him from ringside. Logan hops down and begins arguing with the ref. On the other side of the ring, unseen by the referee, Maxxine Dupri slips Breakker another pair of brass knuckles! Breakker puts them on and looks to attack Femi, but The Ruler catches Bron and slams him down before he can strike! Then a returning Bronson Reed strikes Femi—with a steel chair! The referee calls for the bell at 8:57pm!
Your Winner by Disqualification, Oba Femi! (13 minutes)

After the Match: Reunited and It Feels So Good

After the match, Reed presses the assault on Femi, beating him down with the chair before heading up top and hitting a Tsunami! He then helps Breakker double-team Femi, leading to another Spear. Reed heads back up and hits a second Tsunami! Then a third! Reed pulls Femi up—and the big man is somehow still trying to fight free—setting him up for another Spear from Breakker! Multiple officials swarm ringside, yelling at them to stop the assault. Reed heads up top and hits another Tsunami! We see officials including GM Adam Pearce and the glorious Bobby Roode yelling at Breakker and Reed to stop. Michael Cole declares that the future of the industry is The Vision, reunited and at full strength for the first time in a long time.

Backstage: Paul Heyman & Cathy Kelley

We cut backstage after the break and find Paul Heyman watching clips from the previous match. Cathy Kelley approaches urgently, wanting his reaction to what we just witnessed. Before Heyman can answer, he receives a phone call—from someone he clearly wants to speak with about what just happened. Heyman walks off to take the call, and we’re off to our next match!

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab

Charlotte Flair is out first, draped in a black robe, followed by Alexa Bliss and their new friend, Tatum Paxley. Out next are the as-yet-unnamed heel trio of Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab. Kudos to the heels for coming out in matching ring gear paying homage to TLC. Commentary reminds us that the trio is currently undefeated. We get our bell at 9:13pm! Tatum Paxley and B-Fab start us off, locking up in the center of the ring. The two jockey for control with neither gaining the upper hand, leading B-Fab to tag in Michin. The heels try to double-team Tatum, but she fires up, dropping them both before dropkicking Jade off the apron for the lulz. Paxley stays aggressive, but the numbers eventually prove too much. Tatum makes the classic vanguard mistake of pushing too far from her support, and a sucker punch from Cargill while the referee is distracted allows the heels to take control. They use quick tags to cut the ring in half and keep Tatum isolated. Bliss eventually gets the hot tag and quickly drops B-Fab with a kick combination before making a short-lived cover. Bliss follows with a nice modified Natural Selection, but Michin provides a distraction. Bliss battles her off, giving B-Fab the opening she needs to regain control. The heels again use quick tags to isolate their opponent, this time working over Bliss. Cargill eventually enters and pummels Bliss with punishing kicks and boot chokes in the corner as the trio effectively turns things into a three-on-one.

Finally, after several false starts, Bliss breaks free and makes the hot tag to Flair, who comes in on fire and cleans house! Flair wipes out B-Fab with a diving top-rope Crossbody before yelling, “Come on, bitch!” and Big Booting Cargill off the apron. Flair hits a Release German Suplex on Michin before demonstrating her father’s iconic strut. Flair continues to dominate Michin, countering her offense to great effect, but fails to see Cargill tag in and eats a running boot to the face while attempting to roll up Michin. Cargill pulls Flair up and hits Sandstorm! She covers, but Tatum hits the ring to make the save. Cargill sends Paxley outside, but the interruption buys Flair enough time to recover. Flair and Cargill let the hands and feet fly until The Queen gets the upper hand. B-Fab tries to make the save, but Flair drops her and then hits a beautiful standing Moonsault onto both women! Cargill kicks out at two. Flair beckons to Bliss, who enters the ring as they look for a tandem Natural Selection, but Michin grabs Bliss and drags her out of the ring before she can execute the move. Flair is left battling Cargill and B-Fab but manages to hold her own, sending B-Fab outside before dropping Cargill with a Big Boot! Flair looks for the Figure Eight, but B-Fab hits the ring to distract her. Tatum attacks B-Fab, and the two look to apply stereo Sharpshooters—but Michin shoves Tatum face-first into Flair! The collision leaves Flair vulnerable as the heels send Tatum out of the ring, setting up Jaded from Cargill! Jade covers Flair and gets the three-count at 9:23pm!
Your Winners, Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab! (10 minutes)

After the Match: Various Things + Upcoming Matches

Bliss checks on Flair as Tatum freaks out over what just happened. The victorious heels head up the ramp taunting them, and we’re reminded that it’s The Miz’s 20th anniversary—complete with a new merchandise line!
We then cut to Joe Tessitore and The Miz at ringside. They’re excited about the return of Bronson Reed, with Miz hyping the hell out of the returning big man while Tessitore notes that Reed is looking shredded. Miz also praises Trick Williams’ United States Championship victory and says that if he’s Baron Corbin, he’s going to be pissed. Tessitore runs down what’s coming up across WWE. On Monday Night Raw, Money in the Bank qualifiers begin, while Stephanie Vaquer challenges Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship. On SmackDown, CM Punk defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn. Then, next Monday in Mexico City, Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta!

Singles Main Event Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

Cody Rhodes begins his entrance at 9:34pm to a great hometown-ish welcome! Out next is the Legend Killer, Randy Orton, looking as deadly as ever. Orton and Rhodes immediately clash before Cody can even get his coat off. Orton gets the initial upper hand, but Cody quickly cuts loose and the two battle outside the ring and through the audience. Rhodes uses a trash can to attack Orton and continues the fight through the crowd. Orton manages to jab Rhodes in the eye with his thumb, then takes his turn beating Cody around ringside and through the audience. He even takes time to insult Cody’s mother, as commentary reminds us that Rhodes’ family—sans the kids—is in attendance. Finally, they make it into the ring and at 9:40pm we get our bell! Cody immediately hits a Cody Cutter! Rhodes stays aggressive and applies a knee submission hold, but I briefly lose the video feed before I can confirm exactly what he’s using. Rhodes then looks for Orton’s Draping DDT, but Randy fights him off and creates some separation. Orton slows the pace around 9:43pm, using the ropes and a series of holds to methodically dismantle the American Nightmare in front of his family. Orton dominates for the next few minutes, stomping Cody and wearing him down with working holds and targeted strikes to the knees.

Commentary does a great job hyping the nearly twenty-year history between these two, going all the way back to their Legacy days and their lengthy friendship. Finally, Cody shows signs of life around 9:44pm, using the drop-down uppercut—one of those classic Goldust hand-me-downs—to stun Orton. Rhodes sends Randy outside and pursues, but Orton plays possum, suckering Cody in before jabbing him in the eye again. Our referee—veteran former WCW official “Lil Naitch” Charles Robinson—is giving them plenty of latitude tonight. Orton takes Rhodes back into the ring and begins the mounted ten-punch in the corner, but Cody slips out between his legs after one! Cody turns the tables and unloads all ten punches on Orton to a nice crowd reaction. Rhodes heads outside after the stumbling Viper and, once again, gets suckered in! Orton kicks him in the gut before Suplexing Cody onto the announce table—then hits another Suplex for good measure. Orton takes Rhodes back into the ring, then heads outside and begins stalking the Rhodes family. He confronts Brandi Rhodes, who asks him if he has something to say. She then throws her drink right in his face! Orton is livid and storms back into the ring. He looks to strike a recovering Rhodes, but Cody blocks it and begins his comeback, unloading rights before a Snap Powerslam leaves the Viper on the mat. Rhodes fires up the crowd, and we’re shown his beautiful wife Brandi again. Cody uses the second rope to connect with a step-up kick, then hits the American Dream combination of strikes to another good pop! Cody roars and sets up Cross Rhodes, but Orton clubs him in the forehead to break the move. Rhodes sends Orton hard into the corner with an Irish Whip, but Randy rebounds and Clotheslines Cody. Rhodes swings and misses, allowing Orton to fire off a Snap Powerslam of his own. Orton sets up the Draping DDT and connects! Vintage! Randy grabs the ropes as Cody gets to his hands and knees. Orton’s hearing voices, folks, and he’s got 11,000 Atlantans coming alive for him! Orton spins and drops to the canvas—the Viper is coiled and ready to strike!

Orton fires off an RKO, but Cody counters, grabbing him and hitting Cross Rhodes! Cody covers, but Orton gets a shoulder up, keeping this one alive! The crowd breaks into a “This is awesome!” chant in appreciation. Cody goes for the Cody Cutter, but Orton catches him. Randy looks for another RKO, but Cody shoves him off. Rhodes charges Orton; Randy sidesteps, and Lil Naitch gets wiped out in the corner! Cody hesitates for a split second to check on the senior WWE official, and Orton fires off an RKO! Orton posts up in the corner, and Wade Barrett suspects Randy feels cheated with the referee down. Orton takes a moment to size things up. He sees Cody, once again on all fours, and the crowd is coming alive! Orton sets up for the Punt, and the crowd is all for it—you sick fucks! Orton fires off the Punt Kick, but Cody avoids it and hits Cross Rhodes! Randy rolls outside, and Cody stumbles around the ring as the referee remains down. Rhodes sees Orton on the floor and decides to fire off a Suicide Dive…except Randy moves and Cody crashes into Robinson, who had just begun recovering on the outside! Lil Naitch is sent hard into the barricade and goes down again! Cody snaps, grabbing Orton and repeatedly ramming his head into the steel ring post. Randy stumbles back onto the announce table, and Rhodes unloads rights while yelling at him. Cody grabs the steel steps, looks toward his wife and family, then rams them into Orton’s face! Lil Naitch is still down, so it’s all legal, folks. Rhodes eyes the fallen Orton and stalks him, waiting for the Viper to rise. Randy is busted open on the left side of his face, with blood coming from somewhere near the eye or ear. Rhodes hones in for the finish, pounding Orton with relentless rights before sending him back into the ring. Cody slides in and posts up in the corner. Rhodes hits a Super Cody Cutter off the top to a great pop! Cody yells at Randy to get up and waits for him to rise, blood still running down the left side of Orton’s face. Rhodes hits Cross Rhodes, but Lil Naitch is still down! Cody hangs onto Orton, rises and hits a second Cross Rhodes! Cody holds on again, gets back to his feet…then simply tosses Orton down to the canvas. Rhodes stalks the fallen Viper as Randy struggles to rise. Orton’s blood is now smeared across Cody’s chest and left arm. A subtle “Randy!” chant begins to grow from the crowd. Cody backs into the corner, fires himself up and charges for a Punt of his own—but suddenly stops when Randy waves him off, seemingly begging for mercy! Orton begs Cody not to do it and appears to ask for forgiveness. Rhodes cautiously approaches as Randy writhes on the mat, his hands raised defensively before rolling over to grovel at Cody’s boots. Rhodes looks stunned and shoves Orton back down. Cody yells off-mic, “It’s over! It’s over!” toward the timekeeper’s area.

Another WWE official hits the ring to check on Orton. Rhodes walks over to talk down to Randy and Orton low-blows them both! In his defense, folks, he was aiming for Cody—the referee just happened to be standing right behind him! Orton immediately hits an RKO on the stunned Rhodes, just as Lil Naitch finally recovers! Robinson crawls into position, Orton hooks the leg, and the Legend Killer steals this one at 9:59pm!
Your Winner, Randy Orton! (19 minutes)

After the Match

Lil Naitch gets a towel for the Viper and checks on him as Rhodes looks on in shock. We get replays of the closing moments while commentary remarks that they’ve never seen Randy Orton grovel or beg like that before. We end tonight’s program with Orton sitting up in the ring, staring at the fallen Cody Rhodes.
