A one-on-one match took place during last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night RAW between Mustafa Ali and Ciampa, with the stipulation that if Ali defeats Ciampa, then he will earn a future title shot at the WWE United States Champion Theory. Mustafa Ali would end up getting the win against Ciampa via DQ due to WWE United States Champion Theory interfering in the match and attacking him from behind.
WWE United States Champion Theory then laid waste to Ali even more and told him that he would have to accept his title shot for last night’s show and not some other time in the future. The match did take place and ended with Theory successfully retaining his WWE United States Title after hitting Ali with his ATL finisher and getting the 1-2-3. WWE official Adam Pearce then made his way out and noted that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon was so impressed with Theory’s antics of having a hurt Ali compete in a title match that he wants to see Theory defend his title in a fair fight against Ali at WWE Hell In A Cell. This will only be Theory’s second TV title defense since winning the title from Finn Balor on the April 18th episode of RAW, with his first title defense taking place on the May 9th episode of RAW, when he lost via DQ to “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
Later in the show, WWE would confirm the WWE United States Title Match between Mustafa Ali and Theory for WWE Hell In a Cell. Mustafa Ali was interviewed backstage by Kevin Patrick later in the broadcast and he promised he would leave his hometown of Chicago, Illinois with the WWE United States Title but he was attacked on again by the WWE United States Champion Theory.
The 2022 WWE Hell In A Cell Premium Live Event is set to take place on Sunday, June 5 from inside the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois near Chicago.
