Detailed Backstage Update On Matt Riddle / Brock Lesnar Incident At WWE Royal Rumble PPV

Exact Quote Brock Lesnar Said To Matt Riddle That Started Backstage Incident At WWE Royal Rumble (UPDATED)

Prior to the Men’s Royal Rumble match this past Sunday, a story started making the rounds on social media and on certain wrestling websites/blogs regarding Brock Lesnar and Matt Riddle getting into a “verbal altercation” backstage at the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 pay-per-view that was described as a “tense stand-off.”

Finally, some very specific details of the incident have emerged.

The NXT Superstar was reportedly punished for this action by having plans changed on-the-fly that saw him have a very short showing in the Rumble match, however that is apparently not the case as reports claim that this was already in the script when WWE first landed in Texas to kick off WWE Royal Rumble Weekend.

Apparently this was due to a separate issue that garnered Riddle some heat with WWE management.

As far as the actual “tense verbal altercation” that the two have behind-the-scenes at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas this past Sunday night, WWE officials on-site stated that Lesnar approached Riddle backstage and grabbed his shoulder so that he made sure he had his attention before making one very specific statement.

Lesnar reportedly stated the following to Riddle when the two were in the same area backstage at the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 PPV:

“Kid, you might as well stop saying my name and tagging me in sh*t, because you-and-I will never work together. Ever.

This is essentially the specifics of the “tense verbal altercation” story that has been making the rounds since the story first surfaced this past Sunday evening.

As far as Riddle’s side of things, reports are that he remained his “usual cool self” during the exchange, with tensions never raising particularly high on his end.

It was also noted that he did try talking with Lesnar, but “The Beast Incarnate” did not have much to say after making the aforementioned statement to “The King of Bros.”

Riddle’s performance in the Men’s Rumble match was also not a punishment, as plans for him to get eliminated by King Corbin early into the match was how things were always scripted to go down.

As noted, Riddle’s brief showing in the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match was due to having heat with WWE officials, however it’s not certain if it was the heat was from the Lesnar incident on Sunday, or something else.

We are still waiting on confirmation before publishing even more details on the Matt Riddle / Brock Lesnar backstage altercation at the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 PPV.
