Friday Night SmackDown Quick Recap for Sept. 23, 2022

Matches Tonight: Five (approx. 32 minutes)
  • Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan vs Lacey Evans. Morgan won, and debuted new theme music. 8:24-8:33pm EST.
  • Tag Team Match: the New Day vs Maximum Male Models. ma.çé and mån.sôör dominated but the New Day won in the final seconds. Max Dupri–LA Knight–then quit the group in frustration. 8:51-8:53pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Braun Strowman vs Otis w/ Chad Gable. This was Strowman’s return match. Strowman won, but Otis looked good in the defeat. 9:02-9:08pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Dakota Kai w/ Damage CTRL vs Raquel Rodriguez. Raquel won in right at a minute after Shotzi Blackheart distracted Kai (who was gaining illegal assistance from Bayley). 9:29-9:30pm EST.
  • Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Main Event Match: the Usos(c) vs the Brawling Brutes. The Brawling Brutes were represented by Butch (Pete Dunne) and Ridge Holland, and escorted by Sheamus. Great match that saw the Usos retain after IMPERIUM interfered. 9:43-9:57pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • Time for Acknowledgements: The entrance took from 8:01 until 8:07pm. Long segment to ultimately have the Bloodline give Sami Zayn his own Bloodline-branded tee, welcoming him in officially as the Honorary Uce. Nice segment, better to watch than read it. 8:01-8:19pm EST.
  • Drew Speaks: Drew announced he’ll face Karrion Kross in a Strap Match at Extreme Rules. The two brawled for a few minutes, until Kross put McIntyre to sleep.
  • White Rabbit: Just like dragons, one should not chase white rabbits. Meaning, nothing came of it tonight.
  • Next Week on SmackDown’s Season Premiere: Sheamus/Gunther II for the Intercontinental Championship. Bayley vs Shotzi Blackheart. Hit Row vs Los Lotharios. Ricochet & Madcap Moss vs Sami Zayn & Solo Sikoa.
