Kurt Angle Shares His Thoughts On Luther Reigns

Long before “The Tribal Chief” and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns made his way into the WWE, another man named Reigns competed in the company.

Former WWE Ruthless Agression era star Luther Reigns made his WWE debut in 2004, appearing alongside then Smackdown General Manager, Kurt Angle.

During the most recent edition of The Kurt Angle Show, Angle and Conrad Thompson discussed Luther, and Kurt revealed his thoughts of the big man. Angle explained:

“Luther had it all. He was a pretty good worker, not exceptional, but he was pretty good. He had a great look. He could talk on the microphone,” Angle said. “I’m not sure why he didn’t pan out, but he was cool to work with. You know, they didn’t have him to do a lot of in-ring stuff, and he never really came to fruition”

The Olympic Gold Medalist continued to talk about his former on-air assistant, who finished his brief stint with WWE by wrestling mostly on Velocity. Angle said:

“Nothing ever came out of him, so I’m not sure why that didn’t happen because I know Vince loved him at the beginning. He absolutely loved him. (Vince) was crazy about him and had big plans for him; that’s why they put him with me… And we had that society, whatever Angle, whatever we were called. Honor Society was it was called, and nobody even knows it (laughs). Yeah, but he was good; he should have panned out”

Reigns spilt from the company in 2005, after creative disputes with Paul Heyman led to him requesting his release.
