We have some more updates regarding a title change WWE had originally planned for SummerSlam but moved to the PPV “go-home” episode of RAW instead.
The women’s tag team four way match that took place this Monday on Raw was originally scheduled to be a part of SummerSlam.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was a “Paul Heyman decision” to pull that off of the PPV, perhaps because he wanted the title change to “mean more with a longer match” rather than being just another short match on the SummerSlam card.
The Wrestling Observer also notes that at one point not too long ago, Asuka and Kairi Sane were being groomed to become new women’s tag team title holders.
