Come hell or high-water, WWE SummerSlam 2020 will feature a live audience of enthusiastic members of the WWE Universe.
In a follow-up to a previous post about WWE’s plans for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, specifically the possibility of it being pushed back to September, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter writes that Vince McMahon is “determined” to hold the PPV in front of a live crowd.
The event is currently slated for late August but if the only way to have the PPV in front of a live audience is to move it to September, the belief is that he would make that move.
However, it was cautioned that Vince is the sole person who will make that call and he hasn’t committed to it and often changes his mind constantly anyway.
The city of Boston, the current location for the PPV, has all but officially ruled out any sort of large gatherings through August, advising hosts of such events to start looking at alternatives.
Given that, it appears WWE’s options would be to either push the event back if they want to keep it in Boston, hold it at an alternate venue and they could quite possibly be forced to do both.
