Orton then states, Edge chose the match. Orton makes a point that he may not have been able to get up by the count of 10, but it didn't take him nine years to get back up. Orton states in his opinion, Edge hasn't wrestled in almost a decade, "And ya know what, I don't think ya got it in ya anymore. Ahh... I've known you for a long time, I know that look. You've got doubt in your eyes. You got grit. Grit and Passion. But all your grit doesn't compare to my natural ability. All your passion isn't gonna help you now. Now you, once went on record to say that I was one of the best, and I was a future hall of famer.

Orton continues, "You even said now that you're back on RAW, you're going to make Randy Orton a better performer. So I think, Guts. If you've got the guts, then at Backlash, it'll be Edge vs. Orton. In a straight up, wrestling match." Orton is inches from Edge at this point. Caruso asks, "Edge, do you have a response?" Edge hesitates, saying nothing. Caruso ends the meeting as the show goes off the air, Edge still saying nothing.
