It looks like WWE is playing around with a couple of potential changes to Smackdown for when the show moves to FOX on October 4th, primarily in an attempt to make AEW look “inferior” by comparison.
FOX has been testing out two new cameras that they are looking to debut for the Smackdown show scheduled for 10/4 in Los Angeles, reports Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
They are also looking to invite a lot of celebrities which is why the first show is being held at the Staples Center.
The idea from FOX’s perspective is that they want to kick off the Smackdown launch with a bang and push it like a big boxing match and a place where “real stars” want to be.
Another idea is to make the Smackdown debut seem bigger and more “major league” than AEW’s new show, which would be debuting just a few days earlier in the week.
With FOX pulling out all the stops to push Smackdown, AEW would come across as a “minor league” promotion.
